According to Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, Maryam Akbari Monfared wrote in a letter from Semnan Prison that boycotting the sham election is a national and historical duty which brings about freedom.

Below is the full text of her letter:

Boycott the sham elections! My vote is the overthrow of the regime. This is my voice!

What happened in the summer of 1988 was not an end, it was the beginning of a trend which facing silence and inaction, continued and reached the November 2019 bloodshed.

What is happening now however, is the effect of those bloodsheds and the reflection of the voices of the mothers of the 1988 executed prisoners whose graves’ locations are still unknown.  The mothers who cried alone and in secret embracing photo-frames of their children. Photo frames that keeps their children young forever.

Now the mothers of those who were killed in November 2019, and January 2017, are joining to the mothers of the executed political prisoners in 1988 in seeking justice.

Yes, this is our voice, every voter in presidential election is an accomplice of those who murder our youth.

Now there is a red line between people and their enemies which has been drawn by the martyrs’ blood.

The clamor of those who always stand in the middle and think only of their own benefits has been silenced and they have lost face, the so-called “previous political prisoners” and “civil activists. But alas! the betrayal of these secret supporters of the regime led to the loss of the lives of our best children.

This time, however, the Iranian people are determined, and their voices are louder than ever.

The boycott of the election is a national and historic duty that brings about freedom.

Look, this is a sign of a revolution. On Friday June 18, Iranian people in their way towards the freedom, will seal the illegitimacy of this regime and will protest against the torture and execution of their loved ones.

The government’s sham election is scandalous and its efforts remain fruitless.

From behind of the barbed wires and the high walls of the prison, I shout along with Iranian people:

Victory is ours

Tomorrow is ours…
