A woman’s body was set on fire after being killed by her father and brother

Breathing in Confinement, February 6, 2021: A young woman from Urmia was killed by her brother and father and her body was set on fire.
According to the report of the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, a 32-year-old woman from the village of Gangchin in the Baradust district of Urmia, named “Eshrat Nikkhoei”, was brutally murdered by her own family members under the so-called “Honor killing”.
According to an informed source, Ishrat Nikkhoei’s brother and father first killed her and in another heinous act burned her body. The burnt body was taken to the Department of Forensic Medicine in Urmia.
The source added that a while ago, Ishrat, the mother of three, had been divorced by his husband and returned back to his father’s house after the release of a private video of her relationship with another man.
Since the beginning of 2020 (last 11 months), at least 7 women in Kurdistan have been killed by their family members for honor reasons.
