Breathing in Confinement: Armita Gharavand, a 16-year-old student from Tehran, who had fallen into a coma 28 days ago due to being beaten by “Moral Police in Tehran Metro station,” passed away on Saturday.

According to the “Breathing in Confinement”, the ISNA news agency reported the death of Armita Gharavand on Saturday, October 28, 2023. Armita Gharavand, a 16-year-old student residing in Tehran, had been rendered unconscious on October 1 at Shohada Metro Station in Tehran due to being beaten by the metro’s moral police. She then was  transferred to Fajr Military Hospital. Since then the hospital had been under the supervision of security authorities.

Security forces tried to pretend Armita Gharavand’s unconsciousness as a common incident due to a “sudden drop in blood pressure” resulting from not having breakfast. However, evidence and reports from eyewitnesses indicate that Armita was beaten by the Metro’s moral police.

According to Hengaw, after the announcement of Armita Gharavand’s death, security officials are refusing to hand over the her body to her family.

The Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran  calls for an independent international investigation into the events that took place at Shohada Metro Station on October 1, 2023. The Islamic Republic authorities have so far taken the lives of a significant number of citizens while distorting the truth and concealing the reality.
