The Turk activist Ali Azizi sentenced to 6 years in prison

Breathing in Confinement, December 28, 2020: A sentence of 6 years imprisonment for Ali Azizi, a 19-year-old Turk activist, was verbally notified to his lawyer, Mr. Asghar Mohammadi.
According to “Breathing in Confinement”, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, Ali Azizi was sentenced to six years in prison by the Revolutionary Court of Tabriz. The office of the Third Branch of the Revolutionary Court of Tabriz, headed by Judge Fattahnejad, announced that Mr. Azizi had been sentenced to five years in prison on charge of “membership in an illegal group” as well as one year in prison on a charge of “propaganda against the regime.”
The trial of this Turk activist had been held on Monday, September 14, 2020, in the abovementioned branch.
In another case also, Tabriz Criminal Court had notified Ali Azizi of the charge of “spreading lies in social media,” the hearing of which was held on October 21, 2020, in Branch 107 of Tabriz Criminal Court. Mr. Azizi however, has denied all of the accusations, saying that he has been framed up by the security forces.
Ali Azizi was arrested by security agents on February 23, 2020, at his father’s home in Urmia, and by the completion of his interrogation on March 2, 2020, he was transferred from the detention center of Tabriz Intelligence Office to Tabriz Prison. Finally, on March 25, 2020, he was temporarily released on bail awaiting the court’s decision.
