Breathing in Confinement: At dawn on Friday, June 10, 2022, three prisoners sentenced to death for drug-related crimes were executed in Urmia Prison. The prisoners had been transferred to solitary confinement a day before.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, three prisoners who had been transferred to solitary confinement a day before, were executed in Urmia Prison. The prisoners have been identified as Mohammad Reza Ghorbani, Ghilich Shokouhi and Vahid Behmaram.
Earlier, “Breathing in a Confinement” had published a report on the transfer of these prisoners to solitary confinement.
As of this writing, these executions have not been announced by the state media or official sources.
According to the annual report of the Statistics Center of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 383 prisoners were executed during the past Persian Year (March 20, 2021 – March 20, 2022), of which only 34 were reported by the state media, and the rest were carried out in secret.
