To serve their death sentences, three prisoners transferred to solitary confinement in Urmia Prison

Breathing in a Confinement: On Thursday, June 9, 2022, three prisoners sentenced to death for drug-related offenses were transferred to solitary confinement in Urmia Prison to serve their sentences.

According to Breathing in a Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, On Thursday, June 9, 2022, three inmates held in Ward 15 in Urmia Prison, who had been sentenced to death for drug-related crimes, were transferred to solitary confinement to serve their sentences.

The prisoners have been identified as Vahid Behmaram, Ghilich Shokouhi and Mohammad Reza Ghorbani.

Ghilich Shokouhi and Mohammad Reza Ghorbani were arrested a few years ago by the police agents in Urmia in a joint case on charges of drug possession. After the interrogations, they were tied and sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court in Urmia. But their death sentences were overturned in the Supreme Court. However, after a retrial in Branch 2 of the Revolutionary Court in Urmia, chaired by Ali Sheikhlou, they were sentenced to death again.

Vahid Behmaram, another prisoner sentenced to death, was tried and sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court in Urmia after being arrested on drug related charges.
