Payam Derafshan, Attorney at Law, convicted to two years in prison and a license suspension of 2 years

Breathing in Confinement, Sunday, May 10, 2020: The lawyer, Payam Derafshan, was sentenced to two years in prison and two years of license suspension.

According to Breathing in Confinement, The news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, Saeed Dehghan, Mr. Derafshan’s lawyer, announcing the news on his personal page, added that the case goes back to 2018 when Mr. Derafshan was arrested in his client -the lawyer Arash Kaykhosravi’s home. Mr. Derafshan was charged with “insulting the Supreme Leader” while his “private chat page” was referred to as evidence! Mr. Dehghan called the verdict “a verdict without justification, with violation of the right of having a lawyer and without permission to study the case before the trial.”

 

It needs to be mentioned that Mr. Derafshan was arrested on August 31, 2018, at the home of his client, Arash Keykhosravi who is also a lawyer. He was later released on bail.
