Breathing in Confinement: Hossein Ronaghi, a civil activist and blogger, has been on a hunger and thirst strike since the time of his arrest.

 

Hossein Ronaghi’s brother announced on his social media page that he was on a hunger and thirst strike.

 

Hassan Ronaghi, Hossein Ronaghi’s brother, announced on his social media page that Hossein was on a hunger strike and wrote: “Hossein called home and I talked to him. He has been on hunger and thirst strike since the day he was abducted, and he was not very well. ” Hassan Ronaghi continued: “I asked him to break the strike, and that it was dangerous for him. He just kept quiet in response.”

 

Mr. Ronaghi was arrested on Wednesday, February 23, 2022.

 

The human rights activist and blogger Hossein Ronaghi had previously been arrested on December 13, 2009.

On October 5, 2010, after spending 10 months in Ward 2-A of Evin Prison, he was sentenced by Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court to 15 years in prison on charges of “membership in the Iran Proxy Network, insulting the Supreme Leader and insulting the President.”

 

The verdict was upheld by Branch 54 of the Court of Appeals, and Hossein Ronaghi was later transferred to Ward 350 of Evin Prison.

Finally, he was released from prison in May 2016.
