Roozbeh Piri receives a sentence of 6 years in prison

Newsgroup: Freedom of Expression -Breathing in Confinement: The civil activist, journalist and translator, Roozbeh Piri, living in Tabriz, was sentenced to 6 years in prison by Branch 3 of the Revolutionary Court in Tabriz.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, Branch 3 of the Revolutionary Court of Tabriz, headed by Judge Fatehnejad, sentenced Roozbeh Piri to five years in prison on charge of “membership in opposition groups” and to one year in prison on charge of “propaganda against the system.”
Mr. Piri had been arrested by security forces in Tabriz on September 9. He was released from Tabriz Central Prison on September 29, 2021, on a bail of 300 million Tomans awaiting the court’s decision.
Roozbeh Piri is a translator and editor of “Tabriz” magazine. He is the founder of a student organization named “Navid-e Etedal” in Tabriz Azad University. Roozbeh is one of the detainees of the November 2019 nationwide protests.
