Breathing in Confinement: On Sunday, January 30, 2022, on the second day of the nationwide teachers’ sit-in, Shaban Mohammadi, a member of the Kurdistan Teachers’ Union from Marivan, was arrested by security agents.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran , on Sunday, January 30, 2022, on the second day of the nationwide teachers’ sit-in, Shaban Mohammadi, a member of the Kurdistan-Marivan Teachers’ Union, was arrested by security agents.
Security forces raided Mr. Mohammadi’s home without presenting a search or an arrest warrant.
Concurrently with Mr. Mohammadi’s arrest, security agents searched his home and confiscated his and his wife’s cell phones.
It should be noted that on Saturday and Sunday, January 29 and 30, in response to the call of the Coordinating Council of Iranian Teachers’ Unions, teachers across the country went on strike to protest the government’s non-compliance with their demands. Teachers will also hold nationwide rallies in front of the Education Departments in various cities and provinces on Monday, January 31st.
Over the past one year, teachers’ widespread protests have been ongoing demanding the equalization of the salaries of employed and retired teachers, the release of imprisoned teachers and equal and free education.
