Breathing in Confinement: The death sentences of three detainees of the November 2019 protests were reduced to a total of 75 years and three days in prison.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, on August 14, 2021, on the appeal phase, the death sentences of three detainees of the November 2019 protests were revoked and they each were sentenced to 25 years and one day in prison.

After their request for retrial was accepted, the death sentences of these three political prisoners were revoked and their cases were referred to a branch of equal status. On June 29, 2021, the trial of these prisoners was adjourned for the fourth time, and in fact, their sentences have been reduced without even a court hearing being held. The three political prisoners in Greater Tehran Prison had previously been sentenced to death, a total of 38 years in prison as well as 222 lashes by the Revolutionary Court in Tehran.

The request of these prisoners for retrial was accepted by Branch 1 of the Supreme Court in early December last year, when their death sentences were overturned. Their cases were later referred to Branch 23 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran for retrial. However, due to the change of the head of the branch, the hearing was postponed until May 12. Finally, due to the absence of the second judge, the next court session was postponed once again.
