Narges Mohammadi was beaten and transferred to Zanjan prison

Breathing in Confinement – Narges Mohammadi Deputy Director of the Defenders of Human Rights Centre (DHRC), has been transferred to Zanjan prison. She was among the women who had been on a sit-in at Evin prison protesting the killing of protesters in November. She along with 7 other inmates had announced in a letter on Saturday, December 21, that they would go on strike in solidarity with the victims of  November demonstrations and on the occasion of the 40th day of their death.

Radio Farda news agency quoting the human rights groups and civil activists reported that Mrs Mohammadi o phone call informed her family that she was being transferred to Zanjan prison. Her husband also confirmed the news and announced that, while being transferred his wife was beaten.

Taghi Rahmani, Narges Mohammadi’s husband, wrote in a tweet on Thursday that Mrs. Mohammadi had been coerced to be transferred from Evin Prison while being beaten. In addition to Ms. Mohammadi, Monireh Arabshahi, Athena Daemi, Saba Kurd Afshari, Yasmin Ariani, Mojgan Keshavarz, Samaneh Noroozi Moradi and Soheila Hijab had also participated in the sit-in, said Taghi Rahmani.
