Reza Eslami, a professor of human rights at Tehran’s Beheshti University, is arrested

Breathing in Confinement May 16, 2020: Reza Eslami, a university professor and a member of Faculty of Law at Shahid Beheshti University, being arrested by the Ministry of Intelligence forces was taken to an unknown location.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, on Tuesday, May 12, 2020, the security forces of the Ministry of Intelligence, initially inspected Mr. Islami’s office at the Faculty of Law in Beheshti University and confiscated his personal belongings, including his laptop and his mobile phone. They afterwards, arrested Mr. Reza Eslami and transferred him to an unknown location.

So far, no information has been released on Mr. Eslami’s situation and his whereabouts.

In addition to his doctorate in human rights from Tarbiat Modares University, Reza Eslami holds a doctorate in criminal law and a doctorate in law from McGill University in Canada. He is working as a professor of human rights and environmental law at Shahid Beheshti University.
