Security forces arrested Ismail Gerami

Breathing in Confinement: On Saturday, April 3, Ismail Gerami, a retired worker, was arrested by security forces at his home in Tehran and transferred to Branch 2 of Evin Prison’s Interrogation Center. His whereabouts however, remained unknown.

According to “Breathing in Confinement”, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, following a call for a nationwide gathering of retirees to be held on April 4, 2021, Ismail Gerami, a retired worker, was arrested on Saturday, April 3, at his home in Tehran. After searching Mr. Gerami’s home, security forces confiscated his and his family’s personal belongings, including family members’ cell phones.

Ismail Gerami had previously been arrested during the retirees and workers rally on March 7, 2021, but was released a day later.

The Vahed Bus Company Trade Union and the Retirees Union have condemned the detention of Ismail Gerami and demanded the release of this pension activist.

It needs to be mentioned that on April 4, the Iranian retirees gathered in front of the Social Security Organizations buildings in different cities, including Tehran, Arak, Khorramabad, Shushtar, Sari, Karaj, Ardabil, Isfahan, Qazvin, Gorgan, Ilam, Kerman, Neishabour, Rasht, Shiraz, Shoush and Tabriz, asking for their demands to be met.
