Breathing in Confinement: On August 19, the political prisoner in Bushehr Prison, Sepideh Gholian who had recently tested positive for Covid-19, was sent on leave.

 

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, Sepideh Gholian, was sent on a seven-day leave from Bushehr Prison.

 

Sepideh Gholian was arrested on November 18, 2018, at security police station in Shoush, to be released on bail a month later. However, after her forced confession was televised, she publicly revealed that had been tortured by Ministry of Intelligence interrogators, and was therefore, re-arrested by security forces.

 

Sepideh Gholian was released on bail on October 26, 2019, on bail awaiting the court’s decision. She finally was sentenced to five years in prison on December 14 of the same year, by the Court of Appeals in Tehran.

To serve her 5-year sentence, Miss. Gholian was arrested on June 21, 2020, after appearing in the Sentence Enforcement Unit of the Evin Court, and was transferred to Evin Prison. On March 10, 2021, she was deported from the women’s ward of Evin Prison to Bushehr Prison.
