Breathing in Confinement: Twenty days after his arrest, Wadud Asadi, a civil activist from East Azerbaijan Province, is still under interrogation in the custody of the Intelligence Office.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, Wadud Asadi, a civil activist from East Azerbaijan Province living in Rasht, is still being held under interrogation in the detention center of the Ministry of Intelligence in Rasht. He has been detained for 20 days during which he has not had any contact with his family. Meanwhile his family’s follow-up from Branch 16 of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office in Rasht has also remained unanswered.

Earlier, a bail of 170 million Tomans had been issued for the release of this civil activist, but the interrogator of Branch 16 rejected the bail, saying that the investigation was not over.

The Rasht-based civil activist Wadud Asadi was arrested by security forces at his home on October 30, 2021. The agents searched his home and confiscated his personal belongings, including a laptop as well as four cell phones of him and that of his family. In addition, while being detained, he was beaten by security forces.

Wadud Asadi has been arrested and imprisoned several times before.
