Akbar Azad has been transferred to the quarantine ward of the Greater Tehran Penitentiary

Breathing in Confinement: The civil activist , Akbar Azad, via a phone call informed his family that he had been transferred to the quarantine ward of the 2nd Hall of the Type 6 of Greater Tehran Prison, and that he would be held there for two weeks.

 

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, after three days of unawareness of Akbar Azad’s condition, he informed his family via phone call, that he had been transferred to the quarantine ward of the Greater Tehran Prison.

 

To change his bail, Akbar Azad appeared to Branch 2 of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Baharestan Revolutionary Court on August 9, 2021. However, his bail was rejected, and Mr. Azad was arrested by the order of Nafiseh Sadat Jafari (Judge of the Second Branch of the Baharestan Public and Revolutionary Court) and transferred to the Greater Tehran Prison.

 

Mr. Azad is not in a good physical condition and because of diabetes and other diseases, is in need of persistent monitoring and medical care, which is impossible to be provided in the quarantine ward of the Greater Tehran Prison.
