Breathing in Confinement: On Saturday, August 28, 2021, after appearing in Sentence Enforcement Unit of the Revolutionary Court in Semnan, Alireza Nabavi Chashmi, a former political prisoner, was arrested and transferred to the prison.

 

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, on Saturday, August 28, 2021, Alireza Nabavi Chashmi, after attending the Sentence Enforcement Unit of the Revolutionary Court in Semnan, was arrested and transferred to Semnan Prison to serve his 15 months sentence.

 

He was arrested by security agents of the Ministry of Intelligence on February 13, 2021, in Semnan. Concurrently with his arrest, his house was searched and his personal belongings, including his cell phone and some of his identification documents, were confiscated. He was released on March 4, 2021 on bail of two billion tomans awaiting the court’s decision which was 23 months in prison on charges of “insulting the Supreme Leader and founder of the Islamic Republic, and propaganda against the regime.” Pursuant to Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code, the most severe punishment, ie 15 months imprisonment is enforceable on him.

 

In addition, in 2011, he had been sentenced to one year in prison as well as three years in exile which he had served. Before that also, in 2007, this political prisoner had imprisoned in Semnan Prison for 4 months.
