Breathing in Confinement: On November 26, the people and farmers of Isfahan gathered at the Khajou Bridge on the Zayandehrud River to protest for their water rights as well as the government’s policies which have led to the water crisis.

 

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, on Friday, November 26, 2021, following a rally staged by people and farmers in Isfahan, special forces and plainclothes agents violently attacked the protesters to disperse and suppress them. In addition to using stun guns, the agents used tear gas and birdshots.

 

An informed source present at the scene told the reporter of “Breathing in Confinement”: “They tried to disperse the people, but the protesters confronted them and continued their rally. People chanted, ‘Do not be afraid, we are all together’ ‘We are ashamed of our police force.” The source added: “Special forces and security agents chased the people and used birdshots and stun guns and beat the farmers in the worst possible way.”

The source continued: “Today, helicopters were brought to the scene to confront the farmers and the peaceful gathering of the people. The mobile internet is completely cut off and the home internet is very slow.”

 

According to the report, a number of citizens and farmers were beaten and severely injured by the security forces who used birdshots, batons, stun guns and tear gases.

 

The slogans chanted by the people of Isfahan today:

“Do not be afraid, do not be afraid, we are all together”, “Death to the dictator”, “Death to Khamenei”, “We are the armies who have come to fight the Supreme Leader”, “We have come to fight, we are ready to fight”

 

Clashes between people and the Special Forces is still ongoing.

 

Reports indicate that the protests have spread to other cities, including Khorasgan and Rahimabad.
