9 Executions in 2 Days / A Prisoner Hanged in Public

Breathing in Confinement – At least nine prisoners were hanged during two days in different cities of Iran.
According to official and unofficial media reports, on May 1, two prisoners in Mashhad Central Prison and on May 3, 7 prisoners in the prisons of Karaj and Ardebil were executed. On the same day a prisoner was hanged in city of Noor in public.
Rokna News Agency in two separate reports has announced the execution of two men on charges of murder and rape in the central prison of Mashhad. The source announced the name of the prisoner who was charged with murder as “A”, 28, but did not mention the identity of the other prisoners.
Also according to the report of Justice Office in the Ardabil province, two prisoners charged with transporting and storing drugs were executed in the central prison of Ardebil on May 3. The report did not mention the identity of these people.
In another report, HRANA News Agency has announced the execution of at least four prisoners, including three prisoners from Ghezelhesar prison and a prisoner from Great prison of Tehran. All of these prisoners were charged with drug trafficking.
Ahmad Altafi, Abdul Hamid Bagheri, Majid Imani, and Reza Hosseini are the prisoners who were hanged in Ghezelhesar prison of Karaj.
Iran newspaper also has published the news of one public execution in the city of Noor.
The person had been charged with “murder of a young man with firearms” and his death sentence was implemented in front of the people’s eyes in the city of Noor, on May 3.
The number of death sentences carried out in the recent 15 days rose to 32.
