Mass execution of at least 7 prisoners in Karaj Central Prison

Breathing in Confinement: On Tuesday, December 12, at least 7 prisoners were hanged in Karaj Central Prison. These prisoners had been sentenced to death for the charges of “waging war against God through armed action”, “drug-related crimes” and “murder”.
According to Breathing in Confinement, citing Ilna news agency, on Wednesday, December 13, a prisoner named Milad Bideh was executed in Karaj Central Prison on the charge of “war against God through armed action”. According to this report, Milad’s brother was shot dead by police forces on the day of the incident. In this report, it is stated that Milad Bideh was sentenced to death for killing a person, but the reports of informed people indicate that the person who was killed was one of the security forces.
According to other reports, on the same day, 6 other prisoners were hanged in Karaj Central Prison. Amin Zakari, Hamid Esmaili and Khalil Hajiabadi, 34 year old from Kangavar, were among the prisoners who were executed on charges of “drug-related crimes”.
According to the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, authorities of the Islamic Republic executed at least 112 prisoners last month. The Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, condemning these executions, calls on the United Nations Human Rights Committee and all human rights organizations to take decisive action to prevent the execution of prisoners in Iran.
