Breathing in Confinement: A prisoner arrested previously on a charge of murder, being pardoned by the victim’s family members, was released from execution. He was 16 at the time of the attributed crime.
According to Rokna, a teenager who killed a young man named Mohamad in a street fight was released from execution with the consent of the victim’s next of kins.
“Mehdi was imprisoned two years back for stabbing Mohamad 18, to death. He was convicted of premeditated murder, and was sentenced to death by the criminal court in the City of Qom, the report said.
He was 16 years old when he committed the crime. Mehdi said that in a ‘children’s fight,’ he just wanted to scare Muhammad by stabbing him in the arm, but unfortunately, the knife hit Mohammad in the neck, Rokna reported.
According to the report, in the Supreme Court, the death sentence for this teenager was overturned due to the “lack of intellectual development”. The case therefore was returned to the lower court and meanwhile the victim’s family pardoned the accused.
