To serve her sentence, Bahareh Soleimani goes to Evin Prison

Breathing in Confinement: On Sunday, January 2, 2022, Bahareh Soleimani was sent to Evin Prison to serve her 6-year sentence.

 

According to “Breathing in Confinement”, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, on Sunday, January 2, 2022, Bahareh Soleimani was transferred to Evin Prison to serve her sentence. Bahareh Soleimani was tried in August 2021 by Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court in Tehran, presided over by Judge Iman Afshari who sentenced her to 6 years and 8 months in prison on charges of “participation in the management of an illegal group” as well as “propaganda activities against the regime.” The verdict was confirmed in the Court of Appeals.

 

Bahareh Soleimani was detained by security police on October 16, 2020, and was transferred from Ward 2A of Evin Prison – the IRGC Intelligence Detention Center, to the women’s ward of the prison in early February, after her interrogation was completed.

 

She was finally released on bail from Evin Prison on February 24, 2021, awaiting the trial.

 

Bahareh Soleimani suffers from asthma and had requested that her case be sent to forensic medicine from the Sentence Implementation Unit of the Evin Court. However, her request was ignored and she was sent to prison to serve her sentence.

 

In addition, on Saturday, January 1, Nazanin Mohammadnejad, another accused in this case, was sent to Evin Prison to serve her sentence.
