To serve his sentence, Peyman Farhangian was summoned to prison

Breathing in Confinement: To serve his 3- year sentence, Peyman Farhangian, a poet and labor activist, was summoned on Monday, August 29, by the Sentence Enforcement Branch of the court in Astaneh Ashrafieh. Mr. Farhangian must appear in prison within 5 days of receiving the summon.

 

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, to serve his three-year sentence, Peyman Farhangian, a poet and labor activist, was summoned to the Sentence Enforcement Branch of the court in Astaneh Ashrafieh.

He was tried in absentia by Branch 102 of the Criminal Court of Astaneh Ashrafieh, and was sentenced to 38 years in prison which was reduced to 11 years imprisonment on his objection. Finally on May 15, 2021, Branch 18 of the Court of Appeals in Gilan Province, presided over by Judge Ali Asghar Pourghasem and Hossein Gholizadeh Sarcheshmeh as his counselor, suspended 7 years of his sentence, previously issued by the Court of First Instance, and upheld 3 years of his prison sentence.
