Breathing in Confinement – Behnam Ebrahimzadeh, imprisoned labour activisthas passed the 31st day of his hunger strike in Rajai Shahr prison, in Karaj.

According to the report of “Breathing in Confinement”, the member of “Committee for Following the Establishment of Independent Labour Organizations” has gone on hunger strike since 3rd December, in protest against being transferred to apolitical prisoners’ ward.

“Behnam is still on hunger strike. He has become very weak and, he has had stomach bleeding twice so far.” Said his wife in an interview with “Breathing in Confinement’s” reporter

Regarding the prison officials reaction towards her husband’s hunger strike, she said: “So far, the prison officials have not addressed his demands.”

Behnam Ebrahimzadeh was transferred to ward 1 of Rajai Shahr prison, in Karaj after the court hearing on 3rd December and later on 27th December, he was transferred to ward 2 of this prison, while he is asking to be sent to hall 12 of ward 4 which is political prisoners’ ward.

Recently, a group of political prisoners in Rajai Shahr prison and Nima Ebrahimzadeh, his son, asked him, considering his serious condition to finish his hunger strike.
Behnam Ebrahimzadeh, has been sentenced to 5 years imprisonment by the Revolutionary Court on charge of gathering and collusion against the regime and is serving the fourth year of his sentence.

He was arrested by security forces on 12th June 2010 and was sentenced to 20 years in prison by the Revolutionary court and then his sentence was reduced by theappeal court to 5 years imprisonment.
