Executions of two Baloch Sunni clerics halted

Breathing in Confinement: Two Baloch clerics who on January 16, had been transferred to solitary confinement for execution, were returned back to the prison’s general ward.
According to the Baloch Activists Campaign, two Sunni Baloch clerics, named “Amanullah Balochi” and “Hafez Abdul Rahim Koohi”, who on Monday, January 16, had been transferred to quarantine ward to serve their death sentences, were returned back to the general ward on January 19, after their execution was postponed.
The two Baloch clerics had been arrested by security forces in 2015 and each were later sentenced to 10 years in prison as well as death.
They had been charged with “membership in opposition groups, Moharebeh, and acting against national security,” the accusations that the two Baloch clerics had repeatedly denied.
The decision for their execution strongly protested and condemned by prominent Baloch Sunni clerics, Elders and Trustees in Balochestan.
It needs to be mentioned that the judiciary has asked the family of these two clerics to hand over two of their relatives who are among the regime’s opponents and are living abroad, in order for the execution verdict to be abolished for good . The Public Prosecutor of Zahedan had given a respite till Thursday, December 23, 2020, for the delivery of the two opponents
