Breathing in Confinement: Dr. Mohammad Reza Hashemian – Specialist Intensivist in Masih Daneshvari Hospital, referring to a video of death of patients in an ICU ward because of the power shut down, said in an interview with Rokna News Agency: “This time a video has been released, but we are frequently witnessing such scenes.” He added: “When oxygen is cutoff, some ventilator machines get into trouble and some stop working completely. Frequent oxygen cutoff has a very harmful effect on patients. When this happens, sometimes patients with Covid-19 die before the staff can provide them with oxygen. I have repeatedly said that unfortunately, the Ministry of Health does not publish the details of the deaths of Covid-19 patients.”

In reply to a question on whether the exact schedule of power shutdown was announced to the hospitals so that the staffs could be prepared, Dr. Hashemian said: “The directors of the hospitals know about it!”

Over the last two days, frequent power shutdowns in various cities have created a lot of problems for people.
